Brendan Carr and Geoffrey Starks FCC Commissioners

Satellite Industry Association Congratulates Brendan Carr and Geoffrey Starks on Senate Confirmations as FCC Commissioners

Washington, D.C., January 4, 2019 – The Satellite Industry Association (SIA) today applauded the U.S. Senate re-confirmation of Commissioner Brendan Carr and the confirmation of Geoffrey Starks as a new FCC Commissioners at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).  Mr. Carr, a former FCC General Counsel, previously served as FCC Commissioner after being confirmed in the summer of 2018.

In June 2018, Mr. Starks was nominated to serve a five-year term as FCC Commissioner by President Trump.  He previously served as the Assistant Bureau Chief of the FCC’s Enforcement Bureau and replaces former FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn.

“The Satellite Industry Association would like to congratulate both Brendan Carr and Geoffrey Starks on their Senate confirmations,” said Tom Stroup, President of SIA.  “It is a crucial time for the commercial satellite industry with a number of high profile and important regulatory issues at stake.  Mr. Carr and Mr. Starks are long-time dedicated public servants and we look forward to working with them and the rest of the Commission as satellite providers prepare for the rollout of next-generation connectivity and other innovative satellite services.”
