Washington, D.C., November 15, 2018 – The Satellite Industry Association is pleased to announce that Newtec, a specialist in the design, development and manufacture of equipment for satellite communications, has joined SIA. Newtec provides solutions for the broadcast, consumer and enterprise VSAT, government and defense, cellular backhaul, trunking and mobility, offshore and maritime markets. The Company’s products suit a wide range of single and multiservice applications from DTH broadcasting, video contribution and distribution and disaster recovery and backbones for cellular backhauling, to small and medium enterprises, SCADA and oil and gas networks, aircrafts and vessels.
Newtec recently announced that its Ka-band modems had become the first to be successfully tested over-the-air on fellow SIA member Telesat’s inaugural Low Earth Orbit (LEO) broadband test satellite. The latest trials saw test user traffic successfully passed over the satellite via Newtec modems, showing that flawless operation without packet loss can be achieved on LEO constellations.
“SIA is pleased that Newtec is bringing its satellite communications engineering and manufacturing heritage to the Association,” said Tom Stroup, President of SIA. “As demonstrated by the recent LEO satellite broadband modem tests, the Company has a proven history of providing innovative solutions to meet new challenges and changing market needs and we welcome Newtec and its technology expertise to SIA.”
“Newtec is delighted to join the well-respected group of companies that comprise SIA”, said Slava Frayter, VP, North America. “We look forward to making a valuable contribution to the organization and offering our experience and knowledge to SIA as the satellite industry continues its evolution.”
